ABOUT ME

I am Andrea Lorenti, a luthier whose story begins with my passion for the electric bass, an instrument I started playing at the age of fourteen. My training began thanks to my bass teacher at the time, from whom I also learned the first rudiments of bass maintenance and setup. In those early days, I had no idea how passionate I would become about the world of lutherie.

After graduating in high school, I started a course in classical violin making, focusing on the construction of bow instruments, where I learned the fundamentals of this craft and i began making my first attempts at repairing my friends' instruments in a basic home workshop.

Shortly after, I had the opportunity to work in a lutherie workshop in the province of Turin, where I spent about four years learning the principles of contemporary lutherie. During this time, I devoted myself to my true passion, which was building and repairing guitars and basses, serving hundreds of musicians. This experience also led me to build basses that accompanied me on stages all around the world with one of my main musical projects, the band Ultra-Violence. The stage has been an important testing ground for my instruments, allowing me to constantly improve them, taking my requirements as a bass player and luthier to the next level.

In 2018, I decided to start my own lutherie workshop, Moth, where every day, with dedication, I build high-quality instruments designed to meet the needs of musicians.

My work philosophy is based on commitment, respect and passion. I go the extra mile in every situation, respecting each client and the environment, and I am driven by a passion for research, experimentation, and constant improvement. Over the years, I have attended master classes with renowned international master luthiers such as John Monteleone and Claudio & Claudia Pagelli to further deepen my craft and raise the quality of my instruments.

In my workshop, each client and each instrument find a place where no limit will ever be given to the time it takes to discuss your needs. The musician-luthier relationship is fundamental to me, as it is the basis for understanding and best meeting each client's needs. This continuous discussion is the backbone for personalized, quality service that will allow us to grow together. In fact, in the workshop you will not find a vast staff to serve you, but only me and my hands.
